Political leader of the Progressive Empowerment Party (PEP), Phillip Edward Alexander, has decided to step away from active politics.
Alexander made the announcement in a Facebook post on Sunday, in which he gave a veiled explanation for his decision.
“The truth is I have run out of good reasons to keep at it, especially as most of those whose opinions I cherish and whose guidance I have relied on are no longer with us. My feelings, reasons and opinions could fill books. Suffice it to say I sincerely believe I’ve done all I can. It’s time for new chapters. I walk away with a clear conscience knowing I remained true to whatever it was that I believed in at the start. It is important to me that I never compromised,” he said.
