TUCO Pushing For More Global Recognition Of Calypso

The Trinbago Unified Calypsoians Organisation is seeking to maintain exposure and visibility of the art form even outside of the traditional period of the year.

TUCO President, Ainsley King, said one of the ways to achieved this will be through the hosting of an event on September 2nd at the Apollo Theatre in New York this year.

King made the remarks during the 15th Meeting of a Joint Select Committee on Foreign Affairs on Wednesday.

It held an inquiry into the efficacy of Trinidad and Tobago’s cultural diplomacy and opportunities for strengthening its cultural and tourism products.

King cited some of the strides made in the past where the art form was featured prominently.

He believes there is need to step up efforts in this regard and strive to ensure the art form is given dominance and interest.
