Venezuelan migrants plea for release of their children

A group of Venezuelan migrants, said to be parents of the children that arrived illegally in South Trinidad earlier this month, are calling for answers as to the status of their children.

During a silent protest outside the Red House in Port-of-Spain on Monday, the migrants issued a plea for the authorities to release their children into their care.

One parent said the children, who are at the Chaguaramas Heliport, were due to spend just 14 days in quarantine, but that was extended and they have yet to hear anything else regarding the minors.

They are now fearful that the children will be deported back to Venezuela.
