A 31-year-old Valencia man was denied bail after pleading guilty to the offence of Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm.
He also answered to the charge of Assault by Threats, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The accused appeared before Senior Magistrate, Cheron Raphael at the Sangre Grande First Magistrates’ Court on October 18th, 2022.
The charges were laid following an alleged altercation on October 15th, 2022, between a man and his former girlfriend.
According to reports, a man entered a premises belonging to a 38-year old woman, then a verbal altercation ensued.
The man then allegedly struck her about the face.
A report was made, and officers attached to the Special Victims Department responded and arrested the perpetrator.
He was remanded into custody and is expected to reappear on November 11th, 2022.
