TTPS manpower being strained as 79 officers now in quarantine

79 officers from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service have tested positive for COVID-19 and are currently in quarantine.

This revelation was made by Inspector Ashraf Ali, during his appearance on CNC3’s the Morning Brew on Thursday.

Ali also said there were 481 officers in quarantine, along with 14 TTPS civilian staff.

He stated that despite the strain on manpower, the TTPS was committed to fulfilling its obligations.

Ali also expressed the frustration of his lawmen in dealing with members of the public, who continued to be delinquent and flout the COVID-19 protocols.
He said while the police continue to enforce the law, issuing tickets alone is not the answer. He said the public had to follow all regulations, which are life-saving and not restrictions.
