TTMA Concerned With Lengthy Delays At ABL, Swissport Bonds And Closure of Medway Bond

The Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers’ Association is concerned with the lengthy customs delays at airport, ocean bonds and transit sheds.

It claims this pose a significant challenge to the ease of doing business.

TTMA said “Manufacturers have experienced abnormally long customs delays with a 2-3week customs appointment time at some bonds and transit sheds to examine cargo which in turn has a significant negative impact on trade and manufacturing.”

President of the TTMA, Roger Roach stated, “I have been advised that there is a limited ocean cargo at ABL Bond currently and the Swissport’s air cargo has resumed operations, after being closed since mid-August.

We also note, air freight cargo that is being stored at Swissport Bond is taking up to two weeks based on an appointment after arrival of the goods.

The Association is eager to see what impact the most recent reopening will have on alleviating wait time.
