T&T to receive the one dose J&J COVID-19 vaccine next week

Trinidad and Tobago will receive a shipment of the single-dose Johnson & Johnson (J&J) Janssen Covid19 vaccine next week.

The shipment will be coming from Africa courtesy the African Medical Supplies Platform (AMSP)

The Africa CDC announced last week that 400 million vaccine doses are being rolled out to the African Union Member States and the Caribbean.

However, no information has been provided about the quantity of vaccines or arrival date.

T&T will be among five other Caribbean islands to receive doses. The other islands are Jamaica, Barbados, Guyana, St Kitts & Nevis and the Bahamas.

On June 5, Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley indicated that T&T had ordered 800,000 J&J doses through the platform.

The expected arrival of the Johnson & Johnson vaccines comes on the heels of this country’s recent acquisition of 305,370 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine as a donation from the United States.
