TT Scores 42 Out Of 100 In 2023 Corruption Perceptions Index launched Tuesday

Trinidad and Tobago scored 42 out of 100 and is ranked 76 according to the latest Corruption Perceptions Index launched Tuesday by Trinidad and Tobago Transparency Institute under the theme ‘Corruption and Injustice’.

TT joins over two-thirds of the countries scoring below 50 out of 100 in the 2023 results of the CPI.

The territories are scored on a scale of zero (highly corrupt) to 100 (very clean).

TTTI says although this country’s position has not declined in the report, neither has there been any improvement.

It says Trinidad and Tobago must be mindful that the perceived level of corruption is still very high as there appears to be an inability or lack of effort and interest on the part of public officials to tackle corruption.

Since its inception in 1995, the Corruption Perceptions Index has become the leading global indicator of public sector corruption which scores 180 countries and territories around the world, based on perceived levels of public sector corruption.
