TT native climbs highest peak in Antarctica

Safia Hosein, a native of Trinidad and Tobago, achieved a historic milestone as the first person from this country to successfully summit Mount Vinson, the highest peak in Antarctica.

Standing proudly on the summit on December 25, 2023, at 6:14 pm, she displayed the national flag of Trinidad and Tobago along with a sign highlighting her hometown of Biche.

Sharing her accomplishment on Facebook, Hosein expressed her pride in becoming the first citizen of Trinidad and Tobago to conquer the towering Vinson Massif, standing at an elevation of 4,892 meters in the snow-covered expanse of Antarctica. See less
