TT cricketer Sunil Narine confirmed for 100-ball competition in the UK

Sunil Narine has been retained by the Oval Invincibles for the 2021 “The Hundred” tournament.

The TT/West Indies spinner is one of over 100 players now confirmed for the 100-ball competition to be played across eight venues across the UK later this year (dates to be confirmed).

A women’s tournament will also be held and includes West Indies stars such as Deandra Dottin (London Spirit) and Stafanie Taylor (Southern Brave).

The Hundred was initially supposed to take place in 2020 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Organisers noted the following issues:

• Operational challenges caused by social distancing, alongside ongoing global travel restrictions
• A behind closed doors competition directly contradicts the goal to attract a broader audience
• Incredibly challenging logistics due to significant furloughing across the partnership of 20 venues
