At a very personal and informal meeting, Junior Sammy invited John Jagurnauth to his residence where he presented him with a token of appreciation for his gallantry and selflessness.

The truck driver, John Jagurnauth was hailed as a hero on social media after he is said to have entered the waters in a swamp near the Caroni Bird Sanctuary to save a man trapped inside his car.

The accident happened at around 1 am on Thursday 27th April, when a car skidded off the roadway and into the swamp.

The man trapped inside his car was said to be on his way to work and remained trapped inside the car for an hour.

He was subsequently assisted by the truck driver and was later taken to hospital for treatment.

In an address via Facebook, Junior Sammy complimented Jagurnauth on his actions, saying they were admirable and highly commendable as he not only gave of himself but by extension his family for the good of a total stranger.

“Jagurnauth openly expressed his concern for the driver of the vehicle who was rescued and bestowed continued blessings to Mr. Jagurnauth and his family’s well-being and safety,” said Sammy.
