Trade Relations Between T&T And China Amass Billions, Despite Challenges Of Covid19 Pandemic

Trade relations between Trinidad and Tobago and China have remained constant, even in the face of challenges brought on by the Covid19 pandemic.

This was revealed by Chinese Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago Fang Qiu as he highlighted that trade between the two nations amassed a sum in excess of US$1 billion in both 2021 and 2022.

Delivering hi address at the 2nd China-T&T Investment Cooperation Forum, held at the Chinese Embassy in Long Circular on Monday evening, Ambassador Fang Qiu said, “Despite all the challenges China and T&T’s comprehensive cooperative partnership has been resilient and experienced robust development in recent years. The two sides have overcome the endurance of COVID.”

He added that communication at all levels under the guidance of the leaders of the two countries, their bilateral and practical cooperation teams flourished against the backdrop of the reverse global situation, which has yielded fruitful outcomes in various fields.

Meanwhile Minister of Trade and Industry, Paula Gopee-Scoon pointed to this country’s relationship with China which she said served as a major catalyst for economic growth, as T&T awaits the full operationalisation of the Phoenix Park project.
