Tourism Minister says beach closure will help reduce the spread of COVID-19

The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and the Arts wishes to advise that with effect from midnight Wednesday 14 April 2021 the beach facilities under its direct responsibility, namely, Maracas Beach Facility, Las Cuevas Beach Facility, Manzanilla Beach Facility and Vessigny Beach Facility will be closed for twenty-one (21) days.

The decision Minister Mitchell said to close all beaches was announced earlier today as part of the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago’s measures to combat the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

The Ministry said it regrets any inconvenience caused by this decision.

Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts, Randall Mitchell said “this decision helps to reduce the spread of COVID-19 among members of the general public as there are inherent risks associated with visiting and using beaches. We must do our part to protect health and save lives as infections rise.”

Minister Mitchell urged members of the public to be more vigilant and adhere to the Public Health Regulations in place, which includes, the wearing of face masks, maintaining physical distance and frequent sanitization.
