TATT Assures Consumers Protection Amid Digicel’s Proposed Rate Increases

On two occasions the Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago asked Digicel to reduce its proposed increases on some of its broadband internet services, bundles and add-ons.

The Senate was told by Minister of Digital Transformation, Hassel Bacchus, Digicel wrote to TATT in April 2021 and March 2022 on this subject.

TATT reviewed the proposed increases, the reasons given and engaged Digicel seeking reduction in some of the packages.

Minister Bacchus said none of the conditions for price regulations have been met.

Mr Bacchus said TATT has assured it will do what is required to ensure fairness on this development adding consumers have the power on choice.
