Government Defends The Data Protection Act

The government is defending the Data Protection Act.

On Tuesday a private motion: proclaim the remaining sections of the Data Protection Act was debated upon in the Senate.

Part three, section 42 A and B was proclaimed.

Minister in the Office of the Attorney General and Legal Affairs, Renuka Sagramsingh –Sooklal, told the Senate when this section of the legislation was proclaimed it was done to help protect the public’s interest.

The Minister claimed it was never about pushing a political agenda or fear mongering but improving the lives of citizens in a responsible way.
