Prof Rose-Marie Belle Antoine appointed new Principal at UWI, St. Augustine Campus

The University of the West Indies (UWI) St Augustine campus has a new Principal – Professor Rose-Marie Belle Antoine.

Belle Antoine will take over from Prof Brian Copeland, who was installed as the university’s principal back in 2016 and in 2021, his appointment was extended for a year past his due resignation.

She is expected to take up her new post at the beginning of August.

According to the UWI website, Prof Antoine is a Cambridge and Oxford scholar and holds a doctorate from Oxford University in Offshore Financial Law. She began with the UWI back in 1989 at the Faculty of Law, Cave-Hill as a temporary lecturer, then lecturer in 1991 and was appointed professor in 2004. Belle Antoine was also the inaugural director and initiator of the successful Master of Law (LLM) programme.

●   Professor Rose-Marie Belle Antoine as new Principal at the St. Augustine Campus
●   Dr. Francis Severin as new Principal at the Open Campus
●   Professor Elizabeth Walcott-Hackshaw as Dean of Humanities and Education at the St. Augustine Campus
