The Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago has granted a request from subscription television providers for a further three-month forbearance on the enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights against television broadcasters that continue to air the US Free to Air Networks.
Enforcement will now commence after March 31, 2020.
TATT issued a media release explaining that the extension of the forbearance period will better allow local subscription service providers to procure suitable replacement content.
The Authority, as regulator, considers breaches of Intellectual property rights as serious and will take action against broadcasters for breaching their concession and the Copyright Act.
Concessionaires have been notified by the Authority of its intention to enforce against subscription television broadcasters who continue to air US Free to Air Networks beyond March 31, 2020.
