Tacarigua man charged with Gasparillo murder

A Tacarigua man has been charged for murder following a shooting in Gasparillo on Thursday 22nd June, 2023 that resulted in the death of Brandon Mohammed.

Jeremy Amrit, 25, was arrested on Tuesday 27th June, 2023, and charged for the offence yesterday, Friday 30th June, 2023, following advice received from Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Ms. Joan Honore-Paul. The charge was laid by WPC Ransome of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region 3.

Amrit is expected to appear at the San Fernando Magistrates’ Court on Monday 3rd July, 2023.

According to a police report, a 25-year-old Gasparillo man was arguing with a female relative in front of his home, when a dark-coloured Sunny B-11 vehicle drove up to where they were standing.

A man known to them, allegedly exited from the driver’s side of the vehicle, pulled out a firearm, made obscene remarks, and fired at the Gasparillo resident, who fell to the ground.

He was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The investigation into the incident was supervised by Supt Dhillpaul, ASP Persad, Insps Ribiero, and Ousman and included Sgts Elvin, Jones, and Forbes assisted by a party of officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region 3.
