The man suspected of shooting the vehicle in which two women were driving and wounding the occupants of the car died on Monday during a shootout with police.
Reports indicate that officers responded to a shooting at Maturita Extension around 5:00p.m. On arrival, they were met by gunfire and returned fire to defend themselves. When the smoke cleared they found the suspect, Stephan Plaza, with multiple bullet wounds about his body. He was taken to the Arima District Health Facility but died at the hospital.
Plaza was known to police and was the suspect in the shooting of two women last Friday. According to reports, the two women were travelling along Hillview Bypass Road in Arima around 11:00a.m when their car was riddled with bullets. The women were taken to the hospital for treatment where they are still warded.
