18 tenants evicted at various HDC homes; more errant residents now trying to settle payments

As of May 3rd, 18 tenants of Housing Development Corporation (HDC) homes around the country have been evicted for failure to pay arrears.

Evictions have been taking place at Chaconia Crescent Housing Development, Diego Martin; Cypress Hills Housing Development, Union Hall, San Fernando; Hilltop Villas Housing Development, Malick; Real Spring Housing Development, Valsayn and Vieux Fort, St James.

According to the HDC, evictions will continue in areas previously identified and in new locations. soon.

The Corporation noted in a release however, that since the resumption of the exercise, errant tenants are now coming to the Corporation to settle outstanding balances, establish payment plans and communicate challenges they may have to pay monthly instalments.

The HDC also says in some cases, those evicted have made payments and agreed to settle their arrears as well.

The HDC said it is hopeful these tenants honour their commitments to the Corporation.
