Southern businessman granted $300k bail for 3 larceny offences

A 28-year-old businessman was granted bail with surety in the sum of $300,000, by a Justice of the Peace, after being charged with three counts of Larceny.

Eberneil Eron Bernard, of Palmiste, was charged with Larceny in the sum of $170,000, Larceny in the sum of $8,000 and Larceny in the sum of $48,000, by officers of the Fraud Squad.
He is to appear in court on November 2nd, 2023.

Victims reported to police having handed over sums totalling $226,000 to a man, representing down payments for the importation, registration and delivery of various types of vehicles. They later discovered that the man was never in any position to execute the transactions as promised and all efforts to have to vehicles delivered or the monies refunded, were futile.

An investigation was launched into the matter and on Thursday 19th October, 2023, an exercise was coordinated by Snr. Supt. Groome and supervised by ASP Lutchman in the Southern Division, which resulted in officers arresting one male suspect.

Bernard was charged by WPC Geoffroy attached to Fraud Squad South Office, on Saturday 21st October, 2023.
