South Chamber questions police inability to capture criminals

Where are those charged with the responsibility to protect and serve the population? Has the TTPS thrown their hands in the air, given up and made way for the bandits to take over the country?

These are the questions being asked by the business community in the wake of an increase in attacks against business owners and citizens of Trinidad and Tobago.

President of the Greater San Fernando Area Chamber of Commerce Kiran Singh says that members of the business community have been communicating their deep concerns with the increase in attacks by criminal elements.

He told News Power Now this morning that the exponential increase in violent crime, robberies, home invasions and murders has caused a great deal of worry for the southland, especially as it seems the police force is unable to stem the increase.

He revealed that in meetings with senior police officials they’ve been told to close their businesses, go home early and lock their doors, but this cannot be a sustainable response to the problem.

He questioned the inability of police to apprehend these criminals since there is large volume of videos on social media captured during their criminal activities.
