SoE in Barbados extended as the country battles with a new wave of COVID cases

Barbados Parliament gave the green light for a further extension of the country’s State of Emergency as the island grapples with a new wave of cases linked to COVID-19.

Barbados Minister of Health Ian Gooding-Edghill, said the SoE would remain in effect until September 22.

Gooding-Edghill told his colleagues in the House of Assembly that the continuation of the measure was necessary because of the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 and emerging variants.
