Shot eight year old Kalum in stable but serious condition

Eight year-old Kalum St Bernard-who survived being shot in the chest on Friday night, remains in stable condition at hospital.

The 8-year-old was with his mother, 29-year-old Numi St Bernard of Emon Lane, Valencia and other siblings around 10:17 pm on Friday night, when they began hearing several loud explosions.

He complained to his mother about a burning sensation on his upper left chest. She then observed what appeared to be a gunshot wound on her son with blood coming from the wound in his chest.

The child was rushed to the Sangre Grande Hospital in a private vehicle where he underwent emergency surgery.

The scene was later visited by the police but nothing of evidential value was obtained.

The police also made checks and interviewed several persons along the road, but no useful information was received.
