Shooting in Arouca – 1 dead, 2 wounded

A 28-year-old man is dead and two others are wounded following a shooting in Arouca last night.

The incident took place at Ricemill Road, Arouca.

Police said Ajay Gajadhar was liming with two friends on Rice Mill Road, around 7.45 pm when a white Nissan B14 drove up to the group.

A gunman wearing a ski mask got out of the car and shot at the group, hitting Gajadhar and his friends.

Gajadhar fell while his injured friends ran away.

The killer then walked up to him and shot him again before getting back in the car and driving off.

Officers of the North Central Division Task Force were called in and took Gajadhar and the wounded men to the Arima Hospital, however, Gajadhar died around 8.05 pm.

Investigators said he was shot 12 times.

Fifteen spent 9 mm shells, 19 spent 5.56 shells and two live rounds of 5.56 ammunition at the scene.
