Security officer charged stolen furniture recovered

An security officer has been charged for wasteful employment after providing false information into an incident of larceny which occurred on Monday.

The suspect, ALVIN BHARATH, of Church Street, Kelly Village, has also been charged jointly with ADRIAN PATRICK, of 8th Street West, Casselton Avenue, Trincity.

A third suspect, WANYE RAMADAR, of La Solita Road, Kelly Village, Caroni, was also charged with receiving stolen articles.


 

The trio is expected to appear before a Chaguanas Magistrate today to answer to the charges which arose out a report of larceny which occurred at 12.30 am on January 11th at the Indian Expo along Caroni Savannah Road, Charlieville, Chaguanas.

According to the security guard, while on duty at the warehouse, he was approached by a man armed with a firearm who announced a hold up.

The security guard, police were told, was subsequently tied up and dealt several blows about his body following which he observed four vehicles, two trucks and two cars, entering the compound where several items were loaded unto the vehicles and driven away.

Sometime after, the alleged victim said he raised an alarm and was later assisted by another security officer from a nearby compound, who untied him and they both made checks and observed a quantity of furniture consisting of unique tables, chair sets, electronics, household items and electrical appliances, with an estimated value of $300,000, missing.

 

Police launched an investigation which led to the items being recovered and the trio being charged by Cpl (Ag.) Girwar for the offences.
