Woman set on fire by suspected bandits

A woman is warded in critical condition at hospital after she was beaten and set on fire during an alleged home invasion in Piarco on Saturday.

Reports indicate that the 66-year-old woman was at her Kelly Village, Piarco home at around 1:30pm, when two suspects – a man and a woman, entered her premises.

One of the assailants beat the woman and then threw a flammable substance on her, before setting her on fire.

The suspects then fled the scene in a black vehicle.

The woman was rushed to hospital where she remains warded.
