Sangre Grande couple robbed during home invasion

A 49-year-old man and his wife were tied up and beaten and several valuable items stolen from them during a home invasion in Sangre Grande during the early hours of Sunday morning.

The man told police that he locked the doors of his El Reposo Trace, Ojoe Road home, and went to bed on Saturday night.

However, around 3 am yesterday, he and his wife were awakened by flashing lights in their faces and heard men ordering them not to move.

The suspects then tied the man’s hands and feet and began beating him about the body. His wife was also tied up.

The bandits made off with $15,000 in cash, a surveillance DVR, five gas tanks, jewellery and a generator.

The man eventually freed himself and his wife and contacted police officers.

Sangre Grande are conducting investigations.
