Minister of Rural Development and Local Government, Kazim Hosein, is encouraging citizens affected by Monday’s torrential rains to contact their respective Disaster Management Units.
The Disaster Management Units of the fourteen Municipal Corporations were on high alert since Sunday, monitoring the weather conditions.
In a media release, Minister Hosein said following reports of severe flooding across the central and southern areas from about 10:50am Monday, the DMUs were on the ground, conducting assessments to areas where the flood waters had receded.
As of 7:00am today, the DMUs resumed Damage Assessments and Needs Analysis across the affected municipalities.
Reports received indicate that the following areas were impacted by Monday’s inclement weather; Rio Claro, Mayaro, Biche, San Fernando, Princes Town, Chaguanas and Couva \Tabaquite\Talparo,
