Rowley slams critics of his travel; announces upcoming trips to Ghana and Mumbai

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley has hit back at criticism over his travel expenses.

Recent media reports indicated that approximately $10.7 million had been spent on 19 official visits between September 20th 2020, and February 29th 2024.

At Thursday’s post-cabinet news briefing, Dr Rowley insisted that the trips were all to conduct important business relating to national security and the energy sector, among other things.

Zeroing in on a local newspaper, he also accused the media of cherry-picking issues, as he challenged critics to say which trips he should not have gone on.

Dr Rowley also announced two upcoming trips: one to Ghana on the invitation of the Ashanti King for the 25th anniversary of his ascent to the throne, and one to Mumbai, India on the invitation of a top company.

Dr Rowley says the company is interested in investing in T&T’s sport sector.
