‘This is Paradise’, the 2023 presentation by Ronnie and Caro has copped the Band of the Year title in the Downtown Port of Spain Carnival competition.
The band topped the large band category.
Paparazzi placed second with their portrayal of “Breakaway Beats” and the Lost Tribe was third with”202WE”.
In the Medium Band category, K2K Alliance and Associates placed first with “World War in the time of Salome” while Kinetic Mas placed second with “Cyber Nation” and Image Nation grabbed third place with “Limbo”
In the Small Band category, Tribal Connection placed first with “National Pride”, Cheyenne People placed second with “Cheyenne Sun Dancers” and Belmont Exotic Stylish Sailors placed third with “Celebration in Steel”.
In the Mini Band Category, Moko Somokow placed first with “Au Milieu de Tout de Chaos”, Rhapsody in Blilie placed second with “return of the Blue Old School” and Hot Stuff Promotions placed third with “Celebration of Our People”.
Bunji Garlin was declared the winner downtown with 71 plays. Nailah Blackman and Skinny Fabulous’ “Come Home” with 49 plays and Olatunji placed third with “Engine Room” with 12 plays.
McIntosh, speaking following news of the win, said: “It feels good to start back on a winning note and kudos go out to the masqueraders as well for their order and they had fun too.”
