Riverine flood alert number three, orange level, is in effect.
It was issued at 3:06pm today.
The Meteorological Service says river levels of both the Caroni and South Oropouche Rivers are near or above threshold values and surrounding communities are at moderate to high risk.
Further rainfall into these areas may further overwhelm these water courses and delay run-off.
The Met Service says run off will be slower at high tide, which will be at 7:23 p.m. Monday and 8:52 a.m. Tuesday.
Members of the public are asked to monitor weather conditions and river levels before venturing out.
