Relatives of Local Gov’t Minister followed from bank and robbed

Three bandits robbed an elderly couple at their home at Westmoorings By The Sea on Wednesday.

Police suspect that Nazem Nahous, 87, and wife Jinah Nahous, 80, of Windy Drive, in west Trinidad were followed home from the bank.

The couple, who happen to be the in-laws of Local Government Minister Faris Al-Rawi, went to the Ellerslie branch of Republic Bank at 10a.m. and conducted a transaction.

When they returned home about forty minutes later, a “slim brown skin man” wearing a mask put a gun to the chest of Nazem Nahous and asked for the money. Two other men joined in the robbery.

The couple handed over $2000 in cash and their valuables, including a cell phone.

The suspects then escaped in a vehicle identified as a Nissan brand.
