Prisoner caught after short-lived escape from Golden Grove

It was a short-lived escape for a prisoner at the Golden Grove Prison in Arouca on Tuesday.

Nathan Joseph, who lived at Boundary Street East, California, Couva, managed to climb over one of the three perimeter fences shortly after 2pm, but was held by responding officers near the Golden Grove Convict Prison.

Joseph was held by officers of the Emergency Response Unit, who responded to an alarm signaling an escape.

Joseph is serving a sentence for “breaking and entering and larceny”.

Investigations are continuing into the incident by the Prison authorities.
