Prison officer’s car destroyed by fire

A white Nissan Tiida vehicle, belonging to a prisons officer, was destroyed by fire on Monday morning.

Around 12:05am, the 26-year-old officer of Couva was liming at the home of his girlfriend in Laventille, when the car, valued at $45,000, was seen on fire at the side of the roadway where it was parked.

The prison officer made the discovery after he heard a loud sound.

Reports state that his wallet, which contained his work identification card, driver’s permit, his national identification card and bank card were also destroyed in the vehicle.
