A prison officer was shot and wounded in Arouca last night.
Esdelle Mitchell was at Edna Hill, Windy Hill, Arouca when he was confronted by two bandits.
The bandits tried to steal the man’s valuables but when he tried to fight them off, one of the suspects shot him in his chest, arm and leg before they fled the scene.
Residents heard the gunshots and called the police.
Officers of the North Central Division Task Force went to the scene and took the wounded man to hospital where he remains warded.
Investigations are underway.
