Princes Town man charged with February 8th murder

A 23-year-old man has appeared before a Princes Town Magistrate, charged with the murder of Kungie Madhoo, which occurred on February 8th 2023.

Rakesh Ghingoree, of Princes Town, was charged with the offence following advice received from Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Joan Honore-Paul, on Monday 13th February, 2023.

He appeared before Magistrate Indira Misir-Gosine in the Princes Town First Magistrates’ Court, on Tuesday 14th February, 2023 to answer to the charge.

The matter was adjourned to March 8th, 2023.

Madhoo, 53, of Cedar Hill, Princes Town, was at the home of a friend on Wednesday 8th February, 2023, when he was allegedly threatened by a man wielding a cutlass. An altercation ensued during which the victim was allegedly chopped about the body and died at the scene.

Officers of the Princes Town Police Station responded to the report and arrested a male suspect at the scene.
Investigations were spearheaded by Supt. Dhillpaul and supervised by ASP Persad and Insp. Hosein, all of Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI), Region Three.

Ghingoree was charged with the offence by Sgt. Bridgemohan, also of HBI Region Three, on Monday 13th February, 2023.
