Police Service Commission Nominees Get Government MP’s Backing

Government Members of Parliament gave their support to the nominees to the Police Service Commission which were submitted by President Paula Mae Weekes to the parliament.

The PSC nominees are retired Justice of Appeal Judith Jones; Maxine Attong, Ian Kevin Ramdhanie; Maxine King  and Rajiv Persad.

There was a lengthy debate on the motion to approve appointment to the PSC which was piloted by Prime Minister, Dr Keith Rowley.

The vote was put forward to the parliament individually and House Speaker, Bridget Anisette George, explained why this course of action was taken.

Government Members of Parliament voted in support of each nominees submitted by Her Excellency for approval.

However, the Opposition MP’s voted against all the PSC nominees.

However, Opposition Leader, Kamla Persad Bissessar, objected to the course of action being taken and defended her position.
