Police hold 33-year-old man with homemade shotgun, ammo in Mayaro

A 33-year-old man who was allegedly held on Tuesday morning with a homemade shotgun and one round of ammunition is currently being questioned by police.

The suspect, an unemployed man from Newlands Village, Guayaguayare, Mayaro, was held by officers attached to the Mayaro Criminal Investigations Department and Task Force, led by Sgt (Ag.) Mohammed, during a firearm eradication exercise.

During the period 9 am and 12.30 pm on September 26th, police officers executed the exercise at a garden camp in the Newlands Village, Guayaguayare, Mayaro area where they allegedly found a homemade shotgun and one round of 12-gauge cartridge.

The lone occupant was not authorised to have the weapons in his possession.

He is facing possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition charges.
