Police Constable grazed in brazen gun attack

A police corporal attached to the Port of Spain CID, was grazed by a bullet during a shooting incident in St Joseph on Sunday night.

Reports are that around 9pm, the 50-year-old officer was standing on the road opposite Josephine Bar, Acono Road, when a white Nissan AD Wagon drove up to him.

Police were informed that three men, armed with rifles, got out of the car and opened fire on him.

The officer took cover and used his licenced firearm to shoot back at the gunmen, but was grazed in the melee.

The officer was was grazed on the right side of his neck and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police said the car was found shortly after at Sarame Gardens, Acono Road. The licence plate was registered to a Toyota Prado used by the Ministry of Legal Affairs.

St Joseph police are continuing enquiries.
