Two men were arrested and a firearm and a quantity of ammunition seized by officers of the Gasparillo Police Station, during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the district on Sunday.
Around 11:55am, officers were conducting investigations into a report of shooting with intent in the district, when they had cause to stop and search a grey Nissan B-15 motor vehicle with two male occupants.
The search resulted in officers finding one revolver loaded with two rounds of ammunition hidden under the driver’s seat.
The two suspects, a 31-year-old of Mayo, and a 26-year-old of Claxton Bay, were arrested in connection with the find.
The Mayo man was identified as a suspect in the report of shooting with intent, which occurred around 1:55am, on that same date.
Investigations are ongoing.
