PM Maintains He Did Not Mislead Parliament On THA Chief Administrator Issue

In the interest of peace, good order and progress,  Prime Minister , Dr Keith Rowley, is promising to resign from the post if it can proven  by the authorities he misled the parliament concerning matters relating to his conversation held with the Chief Secretary on the appointment of Chief Administrator in the Tobago House of Assembly.

The Acting Chief Administrator, Ethlyn John, retired on May 17creating a vacancy in the THA to be filled by a designated officer to be appointed by the Public Service Commission.

Dr Rowley said correspondence from the PSC received by the Office of the Prime Minister on May 17th indicated Ritchie Toppin, the Permanent Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister had been designated as the officer to act as the Chief Administrator at the THA.

However, this letter was never advanced to the Prime Minister because the Permanent Secretary received a letter on the same from the outgoing Chief Administrator informing him that a number of allegations of misconduct have been made against Mr Toppin.

The Public Service Commission being so advised, immediately withdrew its letter of immediately withdrew its letter of May 16th which advanced Mr Toppin for consideration to the position of Acting Chief Administrator at the THA.

Dr Rowley said his administration with act in accordance with the law on this issue and will provide a comprehensive dossier of all the relevant correspondence in support of what he said in the parliament today.
