PEP Political Leader Calls For Promises Made On Voting, Fixed Office Terms To Materialise

Promises made to the population on term limits, right of recall, run-off ballot voting and fixed dates for Parliament should materialise.

This was a point highlighted by Progressive Empowerment Party, Political Leader, Phillip Alexander, during the Digital Debate Series on Power 102 Digital on Wednesday.

In August 2014 , the Prime Minister, Kamla Persad Bissessar, in the House of Representatives  said  there needs to changes to the nation’s constitution to transfer the power of politicians into the hands of people.

The then Prime Minister said consultations were held across the country and the report represents what the majority of people have asked for.

Alexander, reflecting on the issue said promises were made to the nation on constitution reform in the past and the time has come put talk into action.
