Penal man gunned down during attempted robbery at home

A Penal man was shot dead during an attempted home-invasion just after midnight.

Narine Singh, 54, of Charlo Village, was asleep in his apartment with his 58-year-old wife around 12:05 am, when they awoke to the sound of a louvre pane being forced open near the bathroom area.

Singh got up and went to investigate the noise.

His wife reported that she heard him shout, “Who is that dey?” and then seconds later, she heard several gunshots.

Singh’s wife found him unresponsive and bleeding from several wounds. He died at the scene. Neighbours heard the loud explosions and called the police.

Officers recovered six 9-millimetre spent shells and a projectile at the scene.

Investigations are underway.
