PDP to deliver pre-action protocol letter to THA clerk; vow to continue vigil

The Progressive Democratic Patriots intends to deliver a pre-action protocol letter to the Clerk of the Tobago House of Assembly this morning, asking that she reconvenes the Sitting of the Assembly before Thursday 4th February 2021, as scheduled.

The PDP members made known their stance this morning, after staging a ‘sit-in/sleep-in’ at the Legislature Building of the THA last night.
All six Assemblymen emerged this morning to hold prayers and speak to supporters.

Their “service” was led by Pastor Terance Baynes, elected representative for Bethel/Mt. Irvine.

PDPnleader Watson Duke and deputy leader Farley Augustine said the PDP’s Assemblymen would also continue the vigil until the Plenary Sitting resumes.

The Clerk of the Assembly, Merna McLeod, stopped the Sitting yesterday after seven rounds of voting failed to produce a Presiding Officer.

The legislative arm of the Assembly cannot reconvene for the new 2021 term until an officer is chosen.
