Parents of Two Children Picked Up By Police Officers To Be Visited And Assessed By National Family Services

A team of Officers from the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services through the National Family Services Division has been assigned to visit and assess the parents of the two toddlers who were picked up by officers of Maloney Police Station recently.

From news reports, Kwasi Squires, the father of the children, and his wife, are both alleged as having intellectual disabilities and as a consequence, the toddlers were found unsupervised when the TTPS visited the house located at Lp5 Jordan Trace, Samaan Drive, Red Hill, D’Abadie.

During the visit, the Ministry conducted an assessment and advised the family of the grant offerings available to them, given their living conditions at this time.

Psychosocial support and counselling were also offered to the family.

The NFSD intends to work closely with the Children’s Authority to determine and develop an effective intervention strategy to rehabilitate this family unit.
