OWTU: “Energy sector being run like a cafe”

The energy sector is being run like a café.

This is the belief of OWTU’s research officer, Ozzy Warwick.

Speaking on Power 102 Digital’s Power Breakfast Show, Mr Warwick said current energy sector models are diluting the health and safety standards.

His comments come on the heels of the recent incident at NiQuan Energy plant in Point-a-Pierre where a Massy Energy Engineered Solutions employee was burnt to death.

The employee suffered burns to forty percent of his body and was then reportedly further injured when he jumped 10 feet to escape the room in which he was trapped.

Mr Warwick lamented that the industry has seen two deadly incidents in the last year as he also recalled the Paria tragedy.
