Over 50 Families To Benefit From Starter Homes

Sixty persons will be beneficiaries of starter homes provided under the Ministry’s Housing and Village Improvement Programme.

Families residing within the following Boroughs and Regional Corporations – San Juan/Laventille, Tunapuna/Piarco, Sangre Grande, Couva/Tabaquite/Talparo, Mayaro/Rio Claro, Princes Town, San Fernando, Penal/Debe, Siparia and Point Fortin are carded to attend to receive keys.

The HVIP is geared towards improving the housing and living conditions of residents who reside in villages across the country with neglected infrastructure and poor quality housing, many of which are located in rural and peri-urban areas.

The programme uses a Village Based-Aided Self Help Approach.

It aims to enhance the physical, human and social capital assets of the communities.

Additionally, the Ministry and the Land Settlement Agency partner with the various communities to provide technical, financial, social and other support.

At  10:00 a.m Wednesday, Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Camille Robinson Regis and Minister in the Ministry, Adrian Leonce and  executives of the Ministry and the Land Settlement Agency , will distribute keys to over sixty  beneficiaries at  the Government Campus Plaza Auditorium, Port-of-Spain.
