Opposition Leader, Kamla Persad Bissessar, during her contribution to the debate raised concern surrounding possible political interference in the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Property Bill, 2020.
Mrs Persad Bissessar also highlighted another area of concern about the amendments to the procurement bill.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister, Dr Keith Rowley, sought to set straight the role of the regulator.
Dr Rowley said ground work is being done in the public service to ensure efficiency when the legislation is fully proclaimed.
