Officers arrest shooting suspect in Tunapuna

A shooting suspect was arrested and an automatic weapon and quantity of ammunition seized by officers of the Northern Division during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Tunapuna district early Monday morning.

Officers were on mobile patrol around 1:00 am, when they responded to a report of a shooting in progress at Bamboo Trace, Tunapuna.

Upon arrival, the officers acting on information proceeded to a bushy area in the vicinity of Romeo Drive, off Bamboo Trace, Tunapuna, where they conducted a search and found an automatic weapon and seven rounds of ammunition.

The officers then observed a man fitting the description of the shooting suspect standing along the roadway with some other individuals.
They approached the man and informed him that he was wanted in connection with firearm-related offences.

He was then arrested and taken to the Tunapuna Police Station.
Investigations are ongoing.
